More than an API
Whether you clicked a button on remove.bg or called its API from code, there is a Poof way to do the same thing.
Studio, in your browser
Used the remove.bg website rather than the API? Studio in the Poof dashboard does the same job: upload, process, download, no code needed. Your past runs stay in your history.
Open StudioAutomations without code
Remove backgrounds inside the tools you already run. Ready-made steps for n8n, Zapier and Make, so a product photo is cleaned the moment it lands in a folder, a form or a shop.
See the integrationsAI assistants via MCP
Give your AI assistant the ability to remove backgrounds on request with the Poof MCP server. Works with any MCP-capable client.
Set up MCPAPI and SDKs for developers
One REST endpoint that accepts remove.bg-style requests, plus official Python and TypeScript SDKs. Try it in the playground before you sign up.

remove.bg shutdown FAQ
What people ask when they hear remove.bg is closing.
Is remove.bg shutting down?
Yes. remove.bg's own banner states that the standalone website will no longer be available from 1 December 2026 at 9:00am CET, and its API documentation announces a move to a different service on the same date. Any website workflow or API integration that relies on remove.bg needs a new home before then.
I used the remove.bg website, not the API. Can I use Poof?
Yes. Studio in the Poof dashboard lets you upload images, process them and download the results in the browser, with a history of your past runs. No code needed. If you want it automated, Poof also plugs into n8n, Zapier and Make.
Will my existing remove.bg integration work with Poof?
For most integrations, yes. Switch the domain to api.poof.bg, use a Poof key, and the requests you already send keep working: same upload, same options, same image back. A few remove.bg extras (shadows, background images, region of interest) are not supported. The migration guide in the docs lists everything that stays the same and the handful of things that differ.
Read the migration guideCan I send an image link or a base64 image instead of a file upload?
Yes. Poof accepts file uploads, links to images and base64-encoded images, the same three ways remove.bg did. Details are in the migration guide.
See supported inputsWhat happens to my remove.bg API keys and credits?
remove.bg keys and credits cannot be transferred to Poof. Poof includes 100 free credits every month with no credit card, which is usually enough to validate a migration before you pick a plan.
How much will I save compared to remove.bg?
remove.bg charges $0.20 per image at standard rates. At 10,000 images a month that is $2,000; Poof's Mega plan covers the same volume for $29. At 200,000 images a month the Giga plan is $299 against $40,000 on remove.bg, which is 100× cheaper.
How fast is Poof, and what are the rate limits?
An image processes in under 2 seconds. Rate limits are per plan, up to 200 requests per minute on higher plans, and the free plan is suited to development and testing.
Does Poof use my images for anything else?
No. Images are only processed to fulfil your request and are never used to train models. Poof is an EU company and is GDPR compliant; the privacy policy describes how images are handled. Commercial use is allowed on every plan, with no attribution required.
Migrate before 1 December 2026
100 free credits every month, no credit card required. Most teams validate the switch on the free plan.
