Is there a free video background remover?

How do I remove the background from a video without a green screen?
Upload the clip to Studio and pick the output you want. Poof finds the person, pet or product in every frame and removes everything behind it, so you do not need a green screen or any masking by hand.
Can I remove a green screen from a video?
Yes. A green screen is just another background to Poof: upload the green-screen footage and you get the subject back with a transparent background, on a colour of your choice, or on a fresh, even green.
Which video formats can I upload and download?
You can upload MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V and MKV files, or an animated GIF, up to 100 MB. You can download a transparent WebM (for websites), a transparent MOV (for Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve), a looping transparent GIF, or an MP4 on a colour or green screen.
Is the sound kept?
Yes. The original audio is carried over to the transparent, coloured and green-screen versions. Only the black-and-white mask is silent, because it is meant to be laid over your original clip.
How long can my video be, and what resolution do I get?
Up to 5 minutes per video. The result keeps your frame rate, length and aspect ratio, at the resolution of your clip up to 4K (4096 px on the longest side), at no extra cost. A 4K clip takes about 1.5 times as long to process as the same clip in 1080p.
Can I make a transparent GIF?
Yes. Pick GIF as the output and you get a looping GIF with the background gone, for chat, email and stickers. GIFs go up to 720p, have no sound and only hard edges, so choose WebM or MOV when you need soft edges or audio. The GIF background remover page has the details.
Does Poof add a watermark?
No. Poof never adds a watermark, on the free allowance or on any paid plan, and you can use the result commercially without attribution.
What happens to my videos?
They are only processed to give you the result and are never used to train models. Results you create in Studio stay in your history for 30 days. Poof is an EU company and GDPR compliant.
