- How much does the background removal API cost per image?
- One credit removes the background from one image. The per-image cost depends on the plan: $0.002 on Ultra and lower on Giga, up to $0.0045 on Pro. remove.bg charges $0.20 per image at standard rates, so volume plans are up to 100× cheaper.
- How much does video background removal cost?
- Video uses the same credits as images: 5 credits per second of source video, rounded up to the whole second, so a minute is 300 credits. That is from $0.45 per minute on Giga, $0.59 on Ultra and $0.87 on Mega. A 30-second clip is 150 credits, about $0.297 on Ultra. Clips above 30 fps cost twice as much per second (10 credits); an animated GIF is 5 credits per second whatever its frame rate. Credits are charged when the upload is accepted and refunded if processing fails; the Free plan covers 20 seconds of video every month.
- How much does the remove.bg API cost compared to Poof?
- remove.bg charges $0.20 per image at its standard pay-as-you-go rate. At 10,000 images a month that is $2,000; Poof's Mega plan covers the same volume for $29. At 200,000 images a month it is $40,000 against $299 on Giga. remove.bg's standalone service also shuts down on 1 December 2026, so existing integrations need to move either way.
- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. Every account gets 100 free credits a month with full-resolution output and no credit card required. The free API key works with the same endpoint as paid plans.
- What happens if I use all my credits?
- Paid plans can buy top-up credits at the rate shown on the plan, and credits renew every billing period. Requests beyond your credits return a clear error instead of being billed silently.
- Can I cancel or change plans at any time?
- Yes. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel from Billing settings in the dashboard. You keep your remaining credits until the end of the billing period.
- Do you offer annual billing?
- Yes. Every paid plan has a yearly price that works out cheaper per month than monthly billing.
